BOCA RATON (CBSMiami) – Florida Atlantic University has fired one of their professors that said he believes the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School was staged.

The university issued James Tracy with a "Notice of Termination" on Tuesday. The termination will go into effect on Friday.

Tracy was scheduled to teach three classes during the upcoming spring semester. FAU said alternative instructors will be assigned to teach those classes.

The school first issued a "Notice of Proposed Discipline" to Tracy on December 16th.

Tracy had 10 days to appeal, but it is unknown if he did.

The parents of 6-year-old victim Noah Pozner said Tracy has harassed them, demanding proof their son existed.

A total of 26 people, 20 of them children, were gunned down at their school in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012.
