Father Of Baby Found Dead To Be Sentenced

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The father of a boy whose remains were found buried in a Hallandale Beach backyard will be sentenced Friday in a Ft. Lauderdale courtroom.

The body of five month old Dontrell Melvin was found in January 2013, 18 months after he disappeared.

Calvin Melvin, 29, and the baby's mother Brittany Sierra blamed each other for the their baby's disappearance.

Melvin and Sierra were initially charged with child neglect. Melvin was also charged with giving false information to law enforcement during the investigation into his son's death.

Prosecutors eventually dropped all charges against Sierra and the neglect charges against Melvin

Last month Melvin pleaded no contest to three felony counts of giving false information.

Melvin is facing anywhere from 15 years in prison to probation.
