MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The father of a boy whose remains were found buried in a Hallandale Beach backyard took a plea Wednesday.

Calvin Melvin, 29, pled no contest to three felony counts of giving false information to law enforcement during the investigation into the death of his son Dontrell.

The baby's remains were found in January 2013, 18 months after he disappeared.

During the investigation, Melvin and the baby's mother Brittany Sierra each blamed the other for the baby's disappearance.

Charges against Sierra were eventually dropped.

Prosecutors admit ruefully there will be no justice for Dontrell.

"It's like the Casey Anthony case. It's disheartening. I'm glad he [Calvin Melvin] pleaded but we still have a dead child. No good cane come of that," said Prosecutor Stacey Honowitz.

Melvin is facing anywhere from 15 years in prison to probation.

Melvin will be sentenced September 18.
