2 dead, 2 injured in suspected street racing crash in Davie, police say

Two people were killed and two others injured early Sunday in Davie after multiple vehicles suspected of street racing struck two motorcycles, according to police.

The crash happened around midnight near 3400 South State Road 7, just south of I-595. Davie police said three to four vehicles were seen racing in the northbound lanes when they collided with the motorcycles, which were carrying four riders.

Two of the motorcyclists died at the scene. The other two were transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The drivers of the suspected racing vehicles fled the scene. Police have not released the identities of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin.

The roadway was temporarily shut down while authorities cleared the scene. It has since reopened.
