MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – Friends and family gathered at a Miami Beach park to remember a teen killed Saturday while he was out riding his bike.

Fisher Park was packed with people who lined up to offer their condolences to the family ofc.

"We're feeling very sad and, nothing, we have any word what to say," said Rudra's father, Dakshesh Bhatt.

"Just pray for my son," said Rudra's mother, Madhavi Bhatt.

According to Miami Beach Police, Rudra was riding his bicycle in the area of Alton Road near 50th Street when he was struck by a dark pickup truck. The driver stayed on the scene.

The way Rudra's father found out his only son was killed just blocks from home only adds to the tragedy.

Dakshesh Bhatt was tracking him on his phone, but when he noticed Rudra was in the same spot for several minutes, he went looking for him.

"I called him several times," said Dakshesh Bhatt. "He never picked up the phone. I took my wife's phone, my phone. I just took the car and as soon as I saw the paramedic and the police."

Dakshesh Bhatt said it's hard to believe his son is really gone.

"We think maybe he's going to come, going to knock and going to open. He's going to come with the bike," he said.

Miami Beach police said the State Attorney's Office is reviewing the case to see if charges will be filed against the driver.
