MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The wife and family of a man who was ambushed and shot to death while sitting in front of a Miami home over the weekend have asked the public for help in finding his killer.

"My husband was a good man, he was lovable, all that and more," said Willie Jean Warren. "To know him was to love him"

On Saturday, around 7 p.m., Willy Warren was sitting in his vehicle outside a home at 3335 NW 13th Avenue when three males attempted to rob him, according to police.

Warren, 77, fought back and was shot. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he died.

"I am in shock, my whole family is torn, it doesn't seem real," said Warren.

"This was a senseless act that has stricken a family, we want closure, we want whoever did this to be held responsible," said Warren's niece Harvette Smith.

"It's so unfair, how can you do this and walk away," wondered Warren.

If you have any information that can help police identify those involved in Warren's murder, you're asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
