Facing South Florida: Miami-Dade Pot Laws Part I

Earlier this week, MDC Commissioner Sally Heyman's proposal  moved forward on a proposal to issue $100 citations for marijuana possessions.

The proposal passed a legislative committee Wednesday – moving Florida's largest county closer to taking pot offenses out of the criminal system.

This move follows Jim DeFede's Investigative Series, Race Matters: Policing by the Numbers – which showed how in one community hundreds of misdemeanor marijuana arrests specifically involved a disproportionate percentage of young black men.
