Exclusive: Cell Phone Video Captures After-School Brawl

COCONUT CREEK (CBSMiami) – A Deerfield Beach mother is demanding answers from the Broward school district and Coconut Creek police after she says her son was severely beaten ten days ago.

Danielle Robinson says her 17-year-old son hasn't returned to school since he was attacked off school grounds on January 17th.

The student, who asked not to be identified, is seen on a cell phone video being brutally beaten.

The teen says he was about to leave school when a student he did not know approached him and slapped him in the face. After leaving campus, he said he was taunted and then surrounded.

"I just blacked-out and I had my life flash before my eyes," said the teenager. "I passed out for like 10-seconds. I'm not safe at that school at all."

The teen is seen on video being punched, choked, and kicked repeatedly.

The student's mom is angry that nobody has been arrested for the attack on her son.

"My child could have lost his life out there," said Danielle Robinson, the student's mom. "There is no way you have physical evidence sitting before you and you can't make an arrest. And my child explained to the officer that he can identify the people that did this to him."

The Coconut Creek Police department wrote an incident report.

The school resource officer, who is a police officer, told CBS4's Joan Murray that there is an ongoing investigation, but that these incidents take time.

Cathleen Brennan of Broward County Public Schools released the following statement regarding the incident: "Student safety is always our highest priority. Monarch High School officials are aware of an incident involving multiple students that ended in a dispute off campus, and are gathering accurate information regarding the situation. Any student disciplinary measure will be in accordance with the student code of conduct. Due to student privacy laws, additional information is not available."

"I would like to see the boys prosecuted in this matter, I would like the teacher to be held accountable for what he seen and he did not report, and I also want the school to be reliable because had they stepped in on time this matter wouldn't have even escalated the way it did," said Robinson.

Robinson seen that her teen will not be returning to Monarch High School.
