MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A former hospital worker who was charged with inappropriately touching a patient accepted a plea deal and has been sentenced to a year's probation.

On Tuesday, Rene Martinez entered a no contest plea to one count of sexual battery. In return, prosecutors dropped the remaining battery charges.

Last year, a patient of Palm Springs Hospital in Hialeah sued them after he claimed Martinez inappropriately touched him as he lay on a gurney.

Martinez is no longer employed by the hospital.
