Everglades National Park Gets New Interim Superintendent

MIAMI (CBSMiami) --The National Park Service announced a new interim superintendent for Everglades National Park and he has a specialty in climate change.

Starting on August 4th, the new man in charge is Bob Krumenaker who has worked in the park service for 37 years.

The group made the announcement Thursday, June 5th that he is set to take over Everglades National Park and Dry Tortugas National Park.

In a statement, Southeast Regional Director Stan Austin spoke about the Krumenaker's move stating, "He will bring great leadership and energy to the Everglades and Dry Tortugas, until we complete the search for a permanent superintendent."

He will replace the current acting superintendent, Shawn Benge who will return to his duties as deputy regional director in Atlanta.

In a statement, Krumenaker said, "I think my strong background in natural and cultural resources and recent work on climate change and sustainability will be a good fit for these parks as they go through a management transition."

Krumenaker is currently the superintendent of Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in Wisconsin.
