Event Offers Parents Help With Child Health Insurance

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Dozens of local families are being given the opportunity to sign their children up for state health coverage just in time for school.

The First Annual Back-To-School Health Fair will offer parents the opportunity to get in-person Florida KidCare application assistance.

Florida KidCare is the state's Children Health Insurance Program (CHIP), that provides health care coverage to children in families with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level.

Those who attend will also get free vision screenings.

Children will even get some school supplies like books and bookbags to help them get ready for school.

The event is being held at North Miami Senior High School located at 13110 NE 8 Ave.

It starts at 10 a.m. and lasts until 2:00 p.m.
