Emory Student From Miami Among Those Killed In Bangladesh Attack

ATLANTA, Ga. (CBSMiami) — An Emory University student from Miami, Florida was identified by the school as one of 20 victims killed during an attack at a Bangladesh restaurant.
"Abinta Kabir, an Emory University undergraduate student at the Oxford College campus, was among those taken hostage and murdered by terrorists yesterday in the attack in Dhaka, Bangladesh," the school said in a statement on its website.
She was visiting family and friends in Bangladesh before the attack.
The school later identified a second Emory student killed in the attack as Faraaz Hossain.
It happened Friday night during a 10-hour standoff between a heavily-armed terrorist group and police that ended early Saturday. Officials said the militants opened fire on the Holey Artisan Bakery and took dozens of victims hostage.
13 hostages were rescued when paramilitary forces stormed in and killed at least six gunmen. Two officers died in the battle.
One attacker was reportedly taken into custody alive, a source told the Associated Press. According to CBS News, it may have been more.
26 people were wounded and 10 were in critical condition.
A survivor's father said people were spared if they could recite verses from the Quran.
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, claimed responsibility for the attack.
On social media, Emory University offered their condolences to the victims' families.
