Driver Struck, Killed In I-595 Accident

DAVIE (CBSMiami) - A driver checking damage to his car on I-595 Tuesday morning died after he were struck by a vehicle.

It happened around 5 a.m. in the westbound ramp from the highway to the Florida Turnpike. Gregory Gardner, 45, was behind the wheel of a BMW sedan when he hit a barrier and lost control, according to Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Mark Wysocky.

The spun and came rest blocking both lanes of the ramp. Gardner got out to see just how badly the car was banged up. He was standing by the car when he was struck by 33-year old Michel Rondon of Ft. Lauderdale.

Gardner was taken to Broward Health Medical Center where he died.
