Driver Killed, Crashes Into Power Pole In Boynton Beach

BOYNTON BEACH (CBSMiami) -- A 24-year-old man was killed Saturday morning after losing control of his car and crashing into a pole in Boynton Beach.

Traffic homicide investigators said Gerald Knott was driving at a high rate of speed on S.W. 23rd Avenue around 1:45 a.m. when he lost control on the right-hand curve just before South Seacrest Blvd.

His car struck a concrete pole, causing it to snap and fall. Knott died at the scene.

Police shut down the area to traffic as FPL crews began working on the pole and power lines.
