MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- An annual tradition in a Little Havana neighborhood already has dozens of people in line and more lining up every hour in order to receive a free holiday meal basket.

On December 2nd, the Latin Chamber of Commerce, CAMACOL, passed out three thousand vouchers for holiday meals that are worth about $150 and includes food and supplies for a traditional Latin "Noche Buena" or Christmas Eve.

CAMACOL has been handing out these Christmas gift baskets for 50 years.

Wednesday morning, those people who waited in line for the vouchers will receive their food baskets starting at 7:00 a.m.

And just like last year, Juanita Alvarez is one of the first in line. This is Alvarez's tenth year of participating in the food basket giveaway.

To help pass the time the people in line play games like dominoes and make new friends. The families are grateful for the much needed support.
