Douglas: Position Switch at ASU 'Helped Take My Game to Next Level'
Rookie fourth-rounder Jamil Douglas will begin his first NFL season as the starting guard for the Miami Dolphins but it was a position switch during his senior season at Arizona State that he credits for his development.
"It helped me a lot honestly," Douglas said on the Big O Show, "and my college offensive line coach will you that when he first told me i had to play tackle my senior year i did not want to do it at all. I kept telling him no and eventually during fall camp they made the switch and it was just something that helped me understand the game more because I was understanding what a tackle was thinking on certain things as well as what a guard was thinking so it helped me take my game to the next level."
Jamil credits two Dolphins interior linemen--Ndamukong Suh and Earl Mitchell--among others with helping his progression during his first NFL Training Camp, correcting his mistakes, and helping mold him into a starter.
