Dolphins Continue Late Season Surge, Beating Jets 24-17

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Dolphins continue their late season surge by winning their third straight game, beating the Jets on the road 24-17.

Miami came out strong, took the lead and picked up their first road win from since the opening game of the season in New England.

First Of All

The 83-yard opening drive was the longest touchdown drive the Dolphins have had this season. Tua Tagovailoa was in command and torched the inexperienced Jets secondary. The creative play calling kept the Jets off balance and guessing. They also got the ball in the hands of the best players, Jaylen Waddle and Mike Gesicki.

More Tua

The Dolphins quarterback had a strong game, and the bottom line is he made enough big plays to lead the team to a victory. The biggest was a 65-yard touchdown pass to Mack Hollins, one of two TD passes in the game. Tua had a bad interception in the first quarter, but other that played a clean game.

Sack Free

The Dolphins offensive line came up with one of its best performances this season. Tua's effectiveness is directly correlated to the fact that he was not sacked. It leads to the question: with an improved offensive line, how good can Tua be? The line also opened enough holes for the running game to gain 115 yards.

Defense Returns

During the three-game winning streak, the Dolphins have allowed a total of three touchdowns. They've allowed only 11 points a game as well. As was the case last game against Baltimore, they look a lot more like the unit that was one of the league's best last season.

Rookies Improve

It was another strong game from Waddle and Javon Holland, very encouraging signs. These players were high draft picks and are being counted on in a big way. As the season goes on, they continue to get better and better.
