MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Fifteen lucky kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade got to hang out with a couple of Dolphins players Saturday for a hands-on experience at Jungle Island.

Rewarded for their academic excellence in school, the students ages 5 to 18, met Dallas Thomas and Ja'Waun James of the Miami Dolphins and took part in an unforgettable experience with some of the world's rarest animals.

"We're in a position where kids look up to us," said Thomas. "Especially for an organization as great as the Boys & Girls Clubs, this was a great way to give back with help from our friends at Jungle Island."

The players and kids got a private tour of the park and got to see snakes at the Serpentarium, mess with marsupials from down under at the Kangaroo Connection, play with pot belly pigs, lemurs, a baby white tiger and much more.
