CARLSBAD (CBSMiami) – Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Branden Albert underwent wrist surgery after being ruled out of Sunday's game earlier in the week.

Albert suffered a dislocated wrist during Miami's win over San Diego last weekend but finished the game.

The amount of time he will miss depends on his recovery from the surgery.

The operation isn't expected to impact the amount of time that Albert misses as he is currently considered week-to-week.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase said that he expects Albert to play again this season.

"That would be fair to say," Gase said on Wednesday. "Nobody has told me anything different yet."

In Albert's absence, rookie Laremy Tunsil will slide into the left tackle role while Kraig Urbik is expected to start at left guard.

"It's a nice opportunity to play left tackle [and] hold it down for Branden Albert," Tunsil said.

The Dolphins will take their 4-game winning streak into Los Angeles this weekend for a matchup with the 4-5 Rams.

Los Angeles has announced that 2016 first overall pick Jared Goff will start his first game in the NFL at quarterback.
