Dolphins, Broncos Both Dealing With Injuries

DAVIE (CBSMiami/AP) — The Miami Dolphins are busy preparing for their matchup with the Denver Broncos on Sunday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

The Dolphins are fresh off of their Thursday night victory over the Buffalo Bills, an AFC East rival that Miami hadn't beaten since 2012.

Denver started the season going 6-1 in its first seven games but has since hit a speed bump.  The Broncos have lost two of three, with the only victory coming against the winless Oakland Raiders.

While the Broncos have been dealing with some injured players on the offensive side of the ball, the team won't know the status of players like tight end Julius Thomas (ankle) and wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders (concussion) until later in the week.  Both were held out of practice on Wednesday.

Dolphins reserve linebacker Jonathan Freeny has been ruled out of Sunday's game at Denver with a hamstring injury that is expected to sideline him for several weeks.

Freeny was hurt in last week's win over Buffalo.

Cornerback Cortland Finnegan didn't practice Wednesday because of an ankle injury, leaving his status for Sunday in doubt. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill was limited with a lingering left shoulder injury that also reduced his practice time last week.

Watch Miami take on the Denver Broncos this Sunday at 4 p.m. on CBS4, your official Dolphins station!
