DAVIE (CBSMiami) – As the Miami Dolphins continue their first week of training camp, it's become clear that the team is open to upgrades at several positions on the roster.
On Wednesday the Dolphins brought in former Bills and Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes for a workout, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Former #Patriots and #Bills LB Brandon Spikes had his first workout after a year out of football today with the #Dolphins, source said.

Spikes has been out of the NFL since the end of the 2014 season.
He was suspended four games by the league last September but never actually missed any time because he was cut by the Patriots likely due to the same off-field issue that led to his suspension.
Spikes played the first four years of his career in New England before signing with Buffalo in 2014.
After re-signing with the Patriots in May of 2015, he was released less than a month later after leaving the scene of a car accident.
He was hit with four charges from authorities but ended up reaching a plea deal in July of that year.
The Dolphins lack depth at the linebacker position and could use a veteran with a strong reputation as a run-stopper, but that will depend on how good of shape Spikes is in after being out of football for over a year.
