DAVIE (CBSMiami) – A Miami Dolphins rookie has ended his pro football career before it really began.

The Dolphins announced on Thursday that rookie offensive lineman Mickey Baucus has retired from the NFL, less than a week before the beginning of training camp.

Baucus was signed by Miami as an undrafted rookie after a solid four-year career at the University of Arizona.

He started all 52 games he played while at Arizona, including 14 starts in 2014.

Baucus was a four-year letterman with the Wildcats.

The Dolphins gave no specific reason for Baucus' sudden retirement.
