Division Champion Panthers Release Full 2016-17 Schedule

SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – The Florida Panthers were one of the surprise teams in the league last season, winning the Atlantic Division title and making the playoffs for just the fifth time in franchise history.

The Panthers are poised for another big year in the upcoming season as their young core continues to improve around a group of steady, talented veterans.

On Tuesday the NHL released the full schedule for the 2016-17 season.

Florida will open the new year at home on Thursday, October 13th against the New Jersey Devils.

The Panthers will play four of their first five games of the season at the BB&T Center.

They also finish the season with three of their final four games at home, with the final game in Sunrise coming on Saturday, April 8th against Buffalo.

Here are some highlights of the Panthers home schedule.

GOVERNOR'S CUP

The Panthers will face interstate rival Tampa Bay four times this season, with the home games coming on November 7th and January 26th. Last season the Panthers won four of the five meetings between the two teams.

STANLEY CUP CHAMPS

Florida will welcome the Pittsburgh Penguins to the BB&T Center on Thursday, December 8th.

PLAYOFF REMATCH

The Panthers will battle with their playoff opponent from last season, the New York Islanders, twice at home. Once on November 12th and again on January 13th.

WEEKLY BREAKDOWN

Of the Cats 41 home games, 11 will take place on Thursday, 10 on Saturday, eight on Tuesday, six on Friday, three on Wednesday, two on Monday and one on Sunday.
