MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- All three major Orlando theme parks have added one more thing to their entrances - metal detectors.

This comes amid heightened tension and fear over terrorism and gun violence.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the metal detectors were installed on Thursday at Walt Disney World,  SeaWorld and Universal Orlando.

Walt Disney World did not indicate how long the machines would be in place. SeaWorld said they had installed them for extra security during the holidays. Universal Orlando said it was testing them.

But these changes go further than Florida, Disneyland and Universal Studios in California also installed detectors.

Security has been a major concern following the recent attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, California.

The installation of the detectors comes a day after the Department of Homeland Security issued a bulletin saying they were  "especially concerned that terrorist-inspired individuals and homegrown violent extremists may be encouraged or inspired to target public events or places."

They indicated the public should expect a larger police presence at public places and events.
