TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) - Gov. Rick Scott has reappointed Secretary of State Ken Detzner, who serves as Florida's chief elections officer.

Detzner's reappointment came as Scott gradually announces the leadership team for his second term, which starts with a January 6th inauguration.

Detzner was appointed secretary of state in 2012 and became embroiled in a controversy about a state effort to purge ineligible voters from the rolls.

The 2012 election also included controversy about some voters getting stuck in long lines at the polls. But lawmakers approved a wide-ranging reform bill in 2013, and this year's elections experienced relatively few problems.

"Ken has been instrumental in overseeing fair and transparent elections in Florida,'' Scott said in announcing the reappointment Wednesday. "Ken has done a great job working with election supervisors to ensure a smooth election process."
