PORT ST. LUCIE (CBSMiami) – Authorities have arrested a New Jersey fugitive after serving a warrant. In the process, they said they discovered drugs and explosive materials at his Port St. Lucie home.

Detectives from the sheriff's office obtained probable cause for a drug-related search warrant.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, with help from the U.S. Marshals task force, went to serve the arrest warrant for 31-year-old John Kaminsky Thursday afternoon.

Deputies arrested Kaminsky at the home located at 398 SW Duval Ave. just after 2:30 p.m.

The bomb squad was later called to the scene after Kaminsky reportedly admitted explosives were located in the home.

"We had to close the 300 block of Duval Avenue to traffic for five hours earlier today for the safety of the public," said Sheriff Ken Mascara. "We also evacuated several nearby homes, also for safety. We appreciate the understanding of neighborhood residents and motorists."
