Defensive Tackle Right On Clowney's Heels At Combine
INDIANAPOLIS (CBSMiami) – While most of the football media and other coaches were still salivating after seeing Jadeveon Clowney run a blazing fast 40-yard-dash; Pittsburgh defensive tackle Aaron Donald staked his claim to being worth a first-round pick.
Donald ran the 40-yard-dash in an unofficial 4.65 seconds. That's 0.19 more than Clowney ran his 40-yard-dash in, but Donald did it while carrying 285 pounds, almost 20 pounds more than Clowney.
Things were even better for Donald when measuring his initial burst off the line. According to the NFL, he ran the first ten yards in 1.59 second, or 0.03 behind Clowney, but again doing it with 20 extra pounds on him and being much shorter than Jadeveon.
Combining Donald's speed with his strength, he lifted 225 pounds 35 times at the combine, will send him flying up draft boards around the NFL. Add in the fact that he was a first-team All-American, first-team All-ACC selection and won the Outland Trophy, Bednarik Award, and Broco Nagurski award and he'll hear his name called early in the NFL draft.
