David Thompson Taken by Mets in 4th Round of 2015 MLB Draft

David Thompson became the second Miami Hurricane selected in the 2015 MLB Draft, when the Mets selected him in the fourth round on Tuesday with the 119th overall pick.

The power-hitting junior joins teammate and pitcher Andrew Suarez (Giants, No. 61 overall) as Canes drafted so far.

Thompson leads the nation in RBIs with 87, is tied for the lead in home runs with 19, and has a .677 slugging percentage. After graduating from Miami's Westminster Christian, he initially signed with the University of Miami as a two-sport athlete, playing quarterback for the football team as a freshman before focusing on baseball the last two years.

The Canes are set to play the Gators in the College World Series this Saturday evening (8 p.m. on 560 WQAM).
