Cyclist Dies After Being Struck By Minivan

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – A cyclist died early Sunday morning after his bicycle was hit by a minivan Saturday night in Pompano Beach.

The cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and passed away after being transported to Broward Health North.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the cyclist to the hospital.

The bicyclist was traveling northbound on SW 12th Avenue just after 9 p.m. Saturday night in the single thru lane.

The minivan, a 2000 Honda Odyssey driven by David Hillard, was also traveling northbound in the same lane.

The minivan struck the bicycle from behind.  The bicyclist did not have any proper working lights at the time of the crash.

Hillard remained on scene and the investigation is ongoing.
