Cristobal Remains Category 1 Hurricane
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Hurricane Cristobal continues to move to the north-northeast with a large area of tropical storm force winds.
At 2 p.m., the Category 1 hurricane was 500 miles southwest of Bermuda. It's maximum sustained winds were estimated at 75 mph as the system moved to the north at 12 mph.
Hurricane force winds extend 45 miles from the system's center while tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 240 miles.
A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Bermuda.
Cristobal is forecast to continue on a north-northeast path on Tuesday and take a turn to the northeast on Wednesday. On this track it will pass northwest of Bermuda on Wednesday.
Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
The Turks and Caicos, along with the southern Bahamas, could see up to an additional three inches of rain as the storm moves away from the island chain. Bermuda could see up to four inches of rain.
