Crist Says Florida's Economy Could Be Doing Much Better
WASHINGTON (CBSMiami/AP) — Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist has admitted that Florida's economy has improved under Governor Rick Scott's watch but was quick to add "it could be doing a lot better."
In an interview with CNN's "State of the Union" Crist said said Florida had been hurt by the state's refusal to expand Medicaid eligibility and Scott's decision to reject federal money for high-speed rail.
Crist also expressed his support of President Barack's health overhaul, saying "it's been great" for the state despite a difficult rollout.
Crist said Obama has a "compassionate heart" and predicted the public would eventually embrace the health care law.
Crist was a Republican when he was governor but he is running as a Democrat against Gov. Rick Scott. He urged members of his new party to fully support Obama during the upcoming elections.
