MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Rescue crews worked tirelessly Tuesday to free a cat from a drain in Miami.

On Tuesday evening, the cat had been taken out of the drain.

It all started Monday night when employees at a nearby convenience store noticed a cat in a pipe and called for help around 11 p.m.

Miami Fire Rescue showed up to the site located at 655 NW 57th Avenue but said they didn't see anything.

The next morning, employees for the convenience store saw the cat was still in the drain. That's when Fire crews came out again and started working on getting the cat out of the drain.

They were having issues getting the cat out since it was moving from pipe to pipe but were able to free it.

Neighbors who live in the area believe the kitten fell in through an open draining hole.
