Cops: 11 Hostages Released After Jacksonville Bank Robbery

JACKSONVILLE (CBSMiami) -- Nearly a dozen people were safely escorted away from a Jacksonville bank after they were taken hostage during an attempted robbery, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's office.

Police have taken the suspect into custody.

It happened Thursday morning at the Community First Credit Union. Helicopter footage from CBS affiliate WJAX showed a SWAT team leading 11 people away from the bank.

Authorities said the suspect, armed with a handgun, was barricaded inside the bank and holding them hostage.

WJAX reported that the suspect surrendered to police.
