COOPER CITY (CBSMiami) -- A call from an alert resident about a suspicious vehicle helped police arrest three teenagers on grand theft auto charges.

The caller told police that a red Toyota Corolla looked out-of-place near the 8700 block of S.W. 57th Street, prompting officers to check out the Diamond Head community.

During the search, two deputies found a black Cadillac Escalade burglarized and a short time later, spotted a young teen walking near the Corolla.

Officials said that car was reported stolen in Miramar and two other teens were sitting inside.

All three teens were taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center and charged with grand theft auto. At least one of them admitted to other burglaries and will face additional charges.

Police also discovered that one teen had stolen a Chevy Corvette on January 9th from a home in the same neighborhood. He was charged in that theft, as well.
