Coast Guard Rescues 2 Stranded Boaters Off Fort Pierce

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — Good planning by a couple of boaters may have helped save their lives when they ran into trouble on the high seas.

United States Coast Guard crews found two men clinging to the hull of a capsized vehicle some 12 miles off the coast of Fort Pierce.

The men were spotted Monday morning. They'd been reported missing after not returning from a weekend fishing trip.

The Coast Guard says 37-year-old Justyn Bradley and 38-year-old Cory Bowman departed from Jupiter Inlet and had not returned Sunday evening as planned.

A small boat from Station Fort Pierce and an Air Station Clearwater C-130 aircraft began searching for the men. They were spotted around 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Capt. Austin Gould says the detailed float plan the men filed with their family members helped crews locate the men.
