Coast Guard Confirms 4 Dead, Search For Missing Person Off Fla. Coast Suspended

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Coast Guard confirms that four people are dead Friday after a boat capsized Thursday 75 miles northeast of West Palm Beach.

Friday night the search-and-rescue crews have suspended their search for one person still missing after the boat capsized. 

The report of a capsized 24-foot vessel with seven suspected migrants atop of the hull was received by watchstanders at Coast Guard Seventh District command center around noon Thursday.

When the Coast Guard arrived, seven people were rescued and three bodies from inside the hull of the capsized boat were recovered.

The Coast Guard said Friday that a fourth person has been confirmed dead and the search continues.

All seven suspected migrants were transferred Thursday to the Coast Guard Cutter.
