Coast Guard Airlifts Sick Cruise Ship Passenger

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — It was the U.S. Coast Guard to the rescue after a passenger on the Bahamas Celebration became ill off the coast of Palm Beach.

Late Saturday night the Coast Guard received word that a 56-year old man on the ship was in severe pain and was in need of a medevac.

Coast Guard Air Station Miami launched an MH-65 dolphin rescue helicopter crew who arrived on scene just after midnight Sunday morning, hoisted the man and flew him to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach.

The man was transferred in stable condition.
