Police Arrest Suspect Wanted For Kidnapping, Sexually Assaulting Cleveland Clinic Employee

BROWARD (CBSMiami) – The suspect wanted for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a Cleveland Clinic employee has been arrested.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, 31-year-old Joel Cossio was taken into custody in Charlotte County, where authorities also recovered the victim's vehicle.

Cossio is accused of tackling and then forcing a Cleveland Clinic employee, who was walking into work, into her car before driving off to the area where he sexually assaulted her.

Afterwards, police said, Cossio drove towards Sawgrass Mills and dropped her off near Target, getting away in her car.

BSO released photos that they were able to obtain from SunPass that they said showed Cossio driving the stolen vehicle westbound on Alligator Alley.

Cossio remains in custody and is awaiting a judge's order to return to Broward County where he will face charges.
