SUV Slams Into People, Pole In Oakland Park

OAKLAND PARK (CBSMiami) --  An SUV slammed into a utility pole and two people standing near it Monday morning.

Chopper 4 was over the scene. An SUV was spotted smashed into a pole, knocking it down near NE 56th Street and North Dixie Highway around 10 a.m.

Witnesses said a woman and a teenager - who were standing in front of the Holy Cross HealthPlex were injured.

Broward Sheriff's Deputies said the driver of the SUV ran off after the crash but was later found by the HealthPlex with minor injuries.

Dixie Highway was closed in both directions from Cypress Creek Boulevard to Commercial Boulevard while authorities investigated the crash.

Meantime, rescue crews rushed the woman to Broward Health North and the teen to Broward Health Medical Center.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
