NORTH LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) -- An investigation is underway after a deadly accident that took the life of a young girl.

It happened in the area of Tam Oshanter Blvd and Rock Island Rd and the Broward Sheriff's Office said a deputy patrolling the area actually heard the impact and rushed to help.

Three vehicles were involved in the chain reaction crash that apparently started with a vehicle losing control.

"The vehicle that was impacted was being driven by a female that had a young female juvenile as a passenger," said Broward Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion. "That vehicle also spun out and ended up striking a black Nissan Sentra that was waiting at the intersection, on the westbound side, for traffic to move. We understand that when the vehicle spun out, the juvenile was ejected from the vehicle and was thus pronounced dead here on the scene."

The others involved in the accident are expected to be fine.

The investigation is in its early stages but officials said it doesn't seem like impaired driving or speed were factors.
