SPRUCE CREEK (CBSMiami) -- A Volusia County man is recovering after he was clipped in the back by the wing of an airplane.

Deputies said the man was trimming weeds along a runway at the Spruce Creek Fly-In -- a residential airpark that includes a private airport at the center of the community -- when the plane touched down to land.

According to 911 calls, a witness said the man had his headphones on and likely didn't hear the plane coming.

As it landed, the plane's wing clipped him across the back.

Authorities said he didn't appear to be seriously injured.
