CORAL SPRINGS (CBSMiami) – CBS4 News has obtained copies of seven search warrants filed in Broward County Court regarding the death of a Coral Springs mother, Magdalena Weich.

The documents reveal that Coral Springs Police are investigating her death as a murder.

Even though the documents don't reveal how, detectives think she was killed. The documents do indicate what and who investigators appear to be focused on in the case.

By all accounts, Weich was a loving and caring mother. A video posted on her online obituary shows her goofing off with her 4-year-old son.

But now Coral Springs detectives are trying to figure out who killed her.

Investigators say some men discovered her body in a wooded area near Coral Springs High School in the city in late August. Search warrants indicate that investigators searched the home she shared with her son and her boyfriend, Enrique Macotela, her son's father. Macotela didn't want to discuss the search warrants on Wednesday night.

"Talk to my lawyer," he told CBS4's Carey Codd.

The documents say investigators also searched Macotela's cellphone found inside a storage unit in Pompano Beach as well as his GPS trying to determine any recent or saved travel routes and other information. The warrants say detectives have searched an iPad and computer found in the home looking for, "Any listings of web addresses, email addresses or screen names, communications or other personal identifying information, in printed or electronic form that may be used to identify the planning, execution and concealment of the death of Magdalena Weich."

Detectives also searched a minivan. Inside they said they found:

  • Possible DNA swabs, Clothing
  • Piece of floor panel
  • Vac Sweepings
  • Green hand cart
  • Garmin GPS
  • Notebooks
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • Hand vacuum
  • Latex gloves

Macotela is not named in the documents as a suspect but police say he is a person of interest and has not cooperated with detectives.

Police say he reported Weich missing and told investigators she went to a bookstore and never returned. Police say he also called in sick for her to her job. Investigators say there was no surveillance video of Weich at the bookstore and that her boss found it odd that Magdalena called in sick to work.

Macotela told us that he misses Magdalena.

"It's so hard for me, this," Macotela said. "I love her. I still love her forever."

But when we asked him if he had anything to do with what happened to her, he didn't respond and kept walking into his home.

A police spokesperson told CBS4 News that they have not ruled out anyone in the death of Weich.

Detectives are awaiting the results of toxicology tests on her body and also going through hours and hours of surveillance video from nearby buses and businesses to see if they can determine her last movements.

Neighbors who spoke off-camera with CBS4 News said Weich's death is very unsettling and that this couple seemed to be a very happy family.

If you know what happened to Weich, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
