Canes Hit The "Ice" With New Football Hire

CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – If you want to be a champion, it never hurts to have plenty of championship coaches on your team. The University of Miami have done just that hiring Tim "Ice" Harris to be the assistant director of football operations at the school.

Harris had been the head football coach at Booker T. Washington high school and led the team to the national championship this season. His new role will play right into that experience as he will be the U's primary liaison with high school coaches along with coordinating community service events for current players.

The former high school coach compiled a career record of 99-10 during two stints at Booker T. Washington. His Tornadoes squad won back-to-back 4A state championships and the national championship this season.

Harris' son, Treon Harris, won't be coming with his father though. The dynamic quarterback of Booker T. Washington last season will suit up for the Florida Gators for the next few seasons after committing to the school last month.
