CORAL GABLES (The Sports Xchange) -- Guard Sheldon McClellan scored all but one of his game-high 21 points in the second half to lead 11th-ranked Miami to a 72-59 victory over Florida State in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.

McClellan scored 10 points during a 5:39 span to spark the Hurricanes (13-1, 2-0) to a decisive 15-1 run that put them up 51-34 midway through the second half.

The Seminoles (10-5, 0-3) pulled no closer than eight points the rest of the way with less than two minutes remaining in the game.

In addition to McClellan, guards Ja'Quan Newton and Davon Reed also were in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively, for the Hurricanes, who won their eighth in a row.

Guard Malik Beasley's 13 points led the Seminoles, who lost their third in a row. Guards Xavier Rathan-Mayes and Dwayne Bacon had 10 each.

The Hurricanes went to the locker room up 32-24 at the half, holding the Seminoles to 31.3 percent shooting from the field (10 of 32) in the first 20 minutes. Florida State's leading scorer at that point was guard Devon Bookert with five points.

The Seminoles got the deficit down to two points at 20-18 on Bacon's three-point play with 8:49 left, but the Hurricanes quickly responded with Reed's third 3-pointer and closed out the half on a 12-6 run.

The Hurricanes shot 46.4 percent from the field in the first half, going 13 of 28 overall and 4-of-12 on 3-pointers. The Seminoles were 1 of 8 from beyond the arc.
