HALLANDALE BEACH -- A bus driver's quick action and careful attention to his passengers helped save a man's life in Hallandale Beach.
Officials said Donovan Williams, 53 -- who works for Limousines of South Florida, which is contracted by the city -- had just taken over driving duties on Wednesday afternoon when he noticed a man slump over in his seat.
"He just kept slumping over and I'm asking him where is he going," Williams said. "He kept slumping over and I knew something is not right. I said, when I get to the clinic, I'm not going to take you any further. We going to get you some medical attention."
Williams then drove to the Memorial Health Center at 4105 Pembroke Road in Hollywood and got help.
Officials said the passenger, who was a frequent rider on the bus, had low blood sugar.
"His speech, it was like he didn't have any speech. I know something was not right," said Williams.
After three years on the job, Williams said it's the first time he had to save a passenger.
