Burglar, Homeowner Exchange Gunfire During Parrot Theft

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Police said a homeowner fired his weapon during a burglary at a Miami home after two men were seen stealing expensive parrots from the backyard.
One of the suspects, police said, then pulled out a gun and shot back.
Surveillance video taken Thursday, June 23rd, around 1:30 a.m. shows two men enter the property, located near West Flagler Street and S.W. 62nd Court.
One of them hops over the fence and into the side yard, where several bird cages were stored.
Despite a dog barking and the motion light turning on, one of the crooks puts his hand inside the bird cage and pulls out two African grey parrots valued at $1,500. He stuffed them into a bag and hopped back over the fence.
Watching it on video, the homeowner then runs out with a shotgun and got off several shots, while the suspect shot back.
The crook then jumped into a waiting silver Dodge Ram pickup truck and drove off.
