Bucs Draft Pair Of Offensive Linemen In 5th Round

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers spent the first two days of the NFL draft surrounding Josh McCown with playmakers. The final day has been devoted to improving protection for their new starting quarterback.

Coach Lovie Smith continued an overhaul of an offense that ranked 30th in scoring and last in passing and total yardage a year ago, selecting Tennessee State Kadeem Edwards early in the fifth round and pulling off a trade that enabled the Bucs to add Purdue tackle Kevin Pamphile later in the round on Saturday.

Both positions became priorities following the release of highly-paid, but underperforming guard Davin Joseph and tackle Donald Penn this offseason.

Tampa Bay drafted receiver Mike Evans, tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins and running back Charles Sims in the first three rounds.
