BSO: Woman's Body Found Inside Garment Bag, Roommate Arrested

DEERFIELD BEACH (CBSMiami) – Sheriff' deputies in Deerfield Beach are investigating the death of a 68-year-old woman found inside of a garment bag in a bedroom closet.

According to deputies a man from out-of-town attempted to contact a friend in Deerfield beach, but could not reach her.

Deputies said they went to her apartment twice, but got no response from anyone inside.

The deputies said they returned Friday morning and went inside to find the 68-year-old woman's body.

The woman's roommate, Jacqueline Luongo, 44, was arrested and charged with the woman's murder after she was found barricaded inside a room at Crossland studio apartments on Commercial Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale early Saturday morning.

Deputies said the victim's friend had not been able to reach her since she was released on August 28 from jail.  The victim had been arrested after her roommate, Luongo, had called deputies to say the victim had assaulted her on August 27 and she also had a warrant for violation of probation.

Deputies arrested the victim on the probation violation and she was released from jail the next day.

It is not clear, deputies said, when Luongo killed the victim, but that the body had been inside the closet for several days.

The victim's body had a plastic bag over her head and tape wrapped around her head, covering her mouth and nose, detectives said.

Family members of the 68-year-old victim have not been notified so her name has not been released.
