MIAMI (CBSMiami) --  Cameras rolled as a man tugged away an ice cream cooler from a gas station as the clerk slept.

Broward Sherriff's deputies said Dennis Norman, 25, walked up to a Chevron gas station in Oakland Park just after 4 a.m. on April 2nd.

Cameras show a man, deputies say is Norman, opening the ice cream cooler located just outside of the store as if to grab an item.

The video shows him them looking closely at the clerk and looking directly at the surveillance camera.

That's when, deputies said, he flashed his middle finger directly at the camera and started his heist.

The man is seen slowly pulling the cooler away for about 15 minutes so as not to disturb the sleeping clerk on the other side of the glass.

Deputies said the man was able to get away but they later arrested Norman and charged him with grand theft in connection to the heist.
