POMPANO BEACH(CBSMiami) - A man may face charges after he tried to drive off while a child was getting out of his car, according to Broward Sheriff's Deputies.

A 911 call on Tuesday prompted the investigation that has been labeled as a hit and run crash.

Deputies said just after 2:00 p.m. the man was dropping off an 8-year old relative at a Pompano Beach home. As she was getting out, he began to drive off.

The girl tumbled out of the car and sustained minor injuries to her leg.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue took her to Broward Health North with minor injuries.

Deputies later stopped the man's car, a gold 2002 Ford Mustang convertible.  They said he may face felony charges for leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.
